Business personal property insurance pays to repair or replace the things your gym owns, like mats, weights and computers, when they're damaged by a fire, a burst pipe or vandalism, or stolen. Property comes with the Gym BOP, which puts it on the same policy as your general and professional liability.

Our property coverage pays replacement cost, which is what the same items cost new today. If you've built out a space you rent, even at a community center or school, with mirrors, wall racks, a sound system, showers or lockers, those improvements can be insured too.

When you have to close for repairs

If a fire or a burst pipe forces you to close, business income coverage helps make up the money you lose while you repair and reopen. It comes with your property coverage on the Gym BOP.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Business Personal Property (BPP) Insurance?

Business personal property insurance covers the things your gym owns inside the space you use: racks, rigs, weights, mats, cardio machines, a sound system, computers and front-desk furniture. With Gym Insurance by PushPress it comes with the Gym BOP and pays to repair or replace them after a covered loss like a fire, a burst pipe, vandalism or theft.

What does BPP insurance cover?

At a gym, BPP covers your equipment, furniture and electronics, plus improvements you've made to a space you rent, like mirrors, lockers, showers or built-in shelving. Flood and earthquake are excluded.

Does BPP cover my building if I own it?

No. BPP covers what's inside your gym, not the building itself, which needs its own commercial property policy. Keep your BPP limit up to date as you add racks, machines or a second room, so it matches what everything would cost to replace.

Does gym insurance cover equipment that gets stolen?

Yes. Theft is covered by the property coverage on the Gym BOP, so stolen equipment, electronics and furniture are replaced at replacement cost. Theft carries its own deductible, which is higher than the standard property deductible.

Does property insurance cover gym equipment that breaks down?

No. Property coverage doesn't cover wear and tear on your equipment or equipment that breaks down. For that, you'd look to your warranty with the manufacturer. Accidental damage, like a machine that gets knocked over, is covered.

Will my landlord accept your property coverage?

If your lease asks for business property at replacement cost on a Special Form basis, plus business income coverage, ours meets it. Our property coverage is written on a Special Form (open perils) basis at replacement cost, and business income comes with it on the Gym BOP.

What happens if I'm underinsured?

Our property coverage doesn't reduce your payout for being underinsured. If you have a covered loss, it pays the full amount of the loss, minus your deductible, up to your property limit.

How long does business income coverage last?

Business income on the Gym BOP replaces lost income for up to 6 months while you repair and reopen after a covered loss like a fire. If you want a 12-month period, it costs only a few dollars more a year: email us at support@gyminsurance.com and we'll add it.
